Questions that have been asked:
1. Are we required to have a regional headquarters?
No, you are not required to.
2. Does the fire equipment need to reach in 25 minutes or 35 minutes?
The fire equipment must reach within 25 minutes.
3. When it says "average" response time, do we take the average for the response time within different zones?
Yes, that is correct.
4. If we place a fire base in the border between regions, is that allowed? If yes, what will the land cost be?
You cannot build a fire base in the line between the regions. You must select one region or another, and pay the land costs according to that region.
5. For some regions, there are 2 or 3 sections for required equipment to quell a fire. Does this mean we can choose to use a section of the equipment or does this mean we have to use all the equipment in the 3 separate boxes to quell the fire?
In regions where there are multiple sections for required equipment, you can select either option to quell the fire.
For example, for an Rainforest region, you can use either 6 Water Tankers or 1 Water Copter and 2 Water Tankers.
You don't need to pick all options - that would be far too expensive!
6. When it states a squad needs to arrive in 25 minutes, what does a squad mean?
A squad means the fire equipment necessary to quell a fire. For example, a “squad” for a fire in the suburbs might be 2 Fire Engines, whereas a squad for a Rainforest might mean 6 Water Tankers.
First, is it possible to have one area's fire quelled in 35 minutes, if our overall average is less than 25 minutes?
7. Can a firebase be placed on the border if it is still in the same land region?
A firebase cannot be placed on a border. In other words, a firebase must clearly be in one and only one zone.
8. What is the allowed scope/content within the appendix (is it all calculations, graphs/tables, methodology, etc.)?
There are no limits on what the appendix can contain. You just need to make sure that it appropriately shows your working and is easy to understand, in case the jury wants to investigate your project proposal further.
9. The "example" maps are slightly different from the "Zones Map". Which map should we look at when making our calculations?
The Zones Map is the accurate map! The example maps are just there to show you some exemplar calculations of how to calculate the fire truck response times. However, the accurate map is the map that is clearly designated as the Map of the Zones.
